"Animal friends came from all over to help rescue the ice cream drips from Nikki's cone."
Ideas come from the funniest places sometimes. I saw a woman on the street the other day, wearing rolled up jeans, striped socks and little boots. Of course, I had to sketch her when I got home and, of course, I made her a girl instead of a woman. Then, I thought, what will she be doing on her walk? She could be eating an ice cream cone and her dog could be licking up the drips. When I saw the Illustration Friday word was rescue, the remaining animals showed up to help with the task at hand.

Hahahaha! Well, if you ain't Snow White, I guess that's another way to get critters to follow you. Fantastic piece! I really adore the rolled up jeans and stripey sock look. And who wouldn't want to be made a little younger!
nice little funny one — good use of the challenge word. Love your style!~

Look at that! I love all of the details..and how great to sketch the lady and bring it home to create such a fun piece. Wonderful concept! I've given you the Sunshine award this morning. I wanted to let you know that you have been so appreciated through these many months of blogging. Thank you, Nina!
Sweet! She brought her very own clean-up crew! What a good citizen!

I've been away from IF for awhile and keeping up with blogs, but I was delighted to see what you've been up to, Nina! Loved the story behind this illo. Makes me think of Maira Kalman and how she gets excited when she sees someone with an interesting hat so she can go back and draw the person. I also think your animal alphabet will be adored by children!
LOL! I'd love to rescue some of that myself :)
cute and funny :) I like the kitty very much.
She's quite a character in her stripey socks!!
