Remember making a "phone" out of some tin cans and string? This is the 1st thing I thought of when I saw the word to illustrate for this week was "canned" over at Illustration Friday. The 2nd thing I thought of was getting "canned" from a job and this idea was way more fun, so here it is! Do kids today even do things like this?...I think they just want the real thing! My daughter started asking for her own cell phone when she was like 10! No tin cans for this generation!

Great concept, and a wonderful illustration as well!
I like your style!
At my old job, I made my supervisor one of these when she was leaving, coz she didn't believe they're working. She's from Spain, or Barcelona as she always point out. "I'm not Spanish - I'm Catalan!!" :D
Just make sure to tighten the string ;) I think this interpretation of canned is so lovely and warm!
he he - great minds think alike! thanks for commenting on my blog :-)
I loved doing this as a kid! Good one :) Great drawing!
I remember doing that!
Good take on the topic Nina. And nice characters too.
This is SOOO cute!! I love it!
I like how you incorporated the type in the illustration and made it part of it. It really works well.
Cute illustration!
it's adorable nina!
a : )
Thanks for your visit to my art garden Nina! And for your comments! Cat's do seem to prefer canned over the dry stuff!! Love your illustration! Sweet and simple!!! You are correct about today's kids! My 14 year old is nuts with a phone! I wish they would enjoy tin can ones and being just "kids" for a while longer!
mary janes and a striped tee...ack...i'm a puddle. love this, nina! :))
Oh, this is super, duper adorable... and so nostalgic. It's funny, didn't think of it until I read what you said, but kids would never do this now, they have the real deal with cell phones. What a world we live in, eh?
What a whimsical illustration!
I love the style and perspective.
I had fun visiting your blog...
